Turning the daily summary off

The evening summary is yours to control. You can keep it, or turn it off completely — and turning it off doesn't cost you anything else.

Three ways to change it

In Settings. Open Settings → Notifications and set Evening summary email to Every day or Never. The change takes effect straight away.

From the email itself. Every evening summary has a link at the bottom that takes you to that same setting, so you never have to go hunting for it.

Just tell me. Say it in chat however it comes out — "stop emailing me every night", "I'd rather not get these" — and I'll change it for you and confirm what will happen next. If what you said could mean more than one thing, I'll ask which you meant rather than guess.

What turning it off does — and doesn't do

Turning the evening summary off stops that email. Nothing else changes:

  • I keep working. Your co-founder doesn't slow down or stop because the email did.
  • I still talk to you in chat when something finishes, gets stuck, or needs a decision from you. That's a different thing, and it stays on.
  • Your Activity log and your dashboard keep showing everything, so nothing becomes invisible — it just stops arriving in your inbox.
  • Anything waiting on your approval still waits for you and still shows up in the app.

So if the email is what's too much, turn the email off. If it's me that's too much, say that instead — I'd rather hear it than have you filter me into a folder.

Emails that keep coming either way

A few emails aren't part of this setting and will still reach you, because they're about your account or a customer rather than your day's work:

These are rare, and they're the ones you'd want even on a quiet week.

Turning it back on

Exactly the same three ways — Settings → Notifications, or just ask me. If you switch it back on during the day, you'll get that evening's summary as normal, assuming there's something worth telling you about. There's no cooling-off period and no limit on how often you change your mind.

If you'd rather have less, not none

Worth knowing before you switch it off entirely: the summary only sends on days there's actually something to report. A quiet day sends nothing, so an empty inbox usually means a quiet day rather than a missed email. If the volume feels wrong, tell me — it's useful for me to hear which part was too much.

If it's still arriving after you turned it off

An email already on its way can land right after you change the setting; after that first evening, it should stop. If a summary arrives a day or more after you turned it off, that's a bug and worth telling us about — talk to a real person and we'll sort it out rather than leaving you to filter it.
