Closing your account and deleting your data

You can ask ZenBusiness to delete your business account and everything held with it. It's your data, and asking for it to be removed is your right.

How to ask

Tell your co-founder you want your account closed, or reach the ZenBusiness team directly — see "Talking to a real person". A person on the team handles the request; it isn't something that happens by accident from a stray message in chat.

What gets deleted

Everything your business had with us:

  • your business details and business plan
  • every conversation you and your co-founder had
  • your website, taken off the internet, along with your free web address
  • your business email address and every message in that inbox
  • your sign-in

Your free web address is retired for good rather than handed to someone else, so nobody can pick up your old address later.

It can't be undone

This is a permanent deletion, not a pause or a deactivation. Once it's done there's no copy to restore from and no way to bring your business back. If you only want to step away for a while, say that instead of asking for deletion — closing your account is the one thing here that can't be reversed.

Two things you may notice right after an account is closed:

  • If you had the app open, it stops working straight away and shows a short page explaining the account was closed. That's expected — it's the app telling you the truth rather than showing you an empty business.
  • Signing in stops working. Your email and password won't get you back in, because the sign-in was deleted along with everything else.

If you see the account-closed page and you didn't ask for any of this, contact ZenBusiness support — a person there can look into what happened.

Signing out is not the same thing

Signing out just ends your session on that device; everything is waiting for you next time you sign back in. See "Managing your account" for that.

Starting over later

Nothing stops you starting a brand-new business with us down the road, but it starts genuinely fresh — a new account, a new web address, and a co-founder who is meeting you for the first time. None of your old work carries over.
