Previewing your website while it's offline

When you take your website offline, you might still want to see what it looks like — to check a change, review the content, or show it to someone before bringing it back online. You can preview your site's content anytime, even when it's offline.

How to preview your offline site

Whether your site is offline because you took it down, or because you're working on changes you don't want to publish yet, you can always see what it looks like:

  • In the portal: Go to Settings → Site. When your site is offline, you'll see a Preview site content button. Click it to open a private preview in a new browser tab, exactly as it appears.
  • In chat: Just ask me — "can I see my website while it's offline?" or "preview my site content" — and I'll give you a direct link to view it.

What you'll see

The preview shows your site exactly as it would appear when live — all your pages, your blog posts, your design, everything. It's not a simulation; it's your actual site content, served securely so only you can see it.

The address bar will show a preview URL, not your usual site address. That's normal — your visitors still see the offline page (or nothing, if you haven't published yet), while you can preview the content privately.

When you're ready to go live

When you're happy with how your site looks in the preview, you can bring it back online:

  • In Settings → Site: Press Bring my site back online
  • In chat: Ask me to "bring my website back online" or "republish my site"

Your previewed content goes live at your usual address right away — no rebuild needed.
